Insight is a scientific consulting firm that provides expert witness work, exposure assessments, and litigation support. Firefly Partners brought Mangrove in as a collaborator on their AI transformation engagement. This page collects the project context, scope, people, and next steps in one place.
Firefly (Jen Frazier + Ben Freda / BFC Digital) ran the foundations track through March 2026:
Sept 2026 – Apr 2027. All billed at $300/hr. Phase 1 discovery ($10,500) due at signing.

Refresh requirements from the March blueprint, evaluate the current AI tool landscape, and test solutions against real Insight materials before committing to a build path.
Problem: Staff manually summarize interrogatories, depositions, and medical records into structured reports. Extremely time-intensive and citation-dense. Off-the-shelf tools (CoCounsel trial) didn't meet Insight's needs.
Build: Custom tool that ingests case materials and produces summaries in Insight's specific template format with proper citations and traceability back to source documents.
Problem: Thousands of scientific PDFs scattered across project folders. Central library has maybe half the materials. Inconsistent naming, rampant duplicates, search frequently fails. Past work products (reports, opinions, analyses) are similarly unsearchable.
Build: Searchable library across both the scientific reference collection and past work products, handling real staff queries against actual Insight documents.
Format: Meet and greet between Insight (Josh + Jenn Sahmel) and the expanded Firefly team (Su + Maiya) as the engagement heads into SOW 3.
Maiya's positioning: Colleague and collaborator who has worked with Firefly on many client projects, fluent in Claude, has built things, and can co-lead discovery and solution testing.
Su's positioning: Member of the Firefly team, AI specialist.
Goal: Get the green light on SOW 3. Expect intros, early ideas, and open conversation about the project.
Jenn Sahmel (CEO) — not AI-savvy but eager for solutions. Jen Frazier's friend of 20 years (how Firefly got the gig). Smart, ready to have AI solve big problems.
Josh — current tech lead, will stay involved but the new Technical Director (starting Sept 8) will take over as main AI point of contact.
